Well the last one pretty much crashed and burned just a bit after brawl came out. And since I'm not really allowed to double post and the other one was 60 days old and really long to boot, I'm just starting a new one. First of all, Matt; when you read this, what were those games you recommended I get? I remember Disgaea for DS and Final Fantasy in General (I want to play all the ones with a decent story, but I can't remember which ones you said were decent.) Also some sort of time crisis? Crisis Core? Anyway, now onto the topic at hand...

Let's talk about Sonic, the word 'fail' and how well the two go together. I'm sure by now many of you have heard of Sonic Unleashed, and even the Sonic RPG, but have you heard of Sonic UnSHEATHED? Now, to be honest, Unleashed looks half awesome. In the videos from the site link you can see the gameplay as sonic and it's pure adrenaline speed. However as were-sonic, he's slow as sin and the only good thing about him is that he can beat the crap out of just about anything. But seriously, sonic was never meant to be a power player, it's just not his style. Lately Sonic has been seeing a huge down trend in its games ever since Shadow the Hedgehog started shooting guns. I haven't personally played all of them, but the ones I've seen just aren't that great. "Sonic the Hedgehog" for XBox 360 for example had a poor story line, the same flaws as previous games (largely having a style that didn't fit Sonic at all) and had a load time of about two minutes every time you switched areas. Areas that are very, very small. To get to the other side of a city requires a load time. They keep trying to change sonic in little ways to make it more fun, but if they want to change Sonic, they need a clean break or it just won't work. For this reason, the RPG MIGHT be decent. Unleashed however is another "Shadow the Hedgehog" Giving the critter a sword is no better than giving them guns. And don't even get me started on the 'goody points'. In order to become a knight Sonic must preform good deeds for people and bad deeds like destruction and killing the wrong people will take that away.

that's all I'll put for now, and I'll leave the discussion open for anyone who wants to add to this or defend sonic (such as Half who I'm sure will have SOMEthing to say)

Keep Sonic how he WAS. He started with blazing fast speed as his only power. It WORKED. Stop screwing it up.

And they do that in Unleashed... when he's not were anyway. However, you can't say Sonic can't do anything except speed. Mario left his platform scene for rpg early on and did really well, there's nothing to say that Sonic can't do well in a completely new field as well. However, the speed based games should STAY speed based. Being a werewolf in this one just messed everything up. (and I don't know enough about Unsheathed to say anything about it in regards to that comment.)

FFs that have higher end storylines (In my opinion): IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, X

Although VIII is up there, I by no means recommend it. Gameplay is absolutely horrid (mainly the magic system). You have no MP; you must 'draw' magic from enemies or special magic spawn points throughout the game. Once you're out of, let's say, fire spells, you can't use it again until you draw some more. I hate it with a burning passion. Try if you must for it does have a quite a renowned storyline but, for me, the gameplay didn't make it worth it.

Crisis Core is a PSP game, not something you're probably getting...
Unless you do, in which case, get it. Its the prequel to FF VII. I haven't gotten much into the real story yet though, so I can't vouch for it. Corey would be able to say a few words however.

Yes, Disgaea DS would be a buy for you. Also, Chrono Trigger DS is something else I would recommend you buy come this Winter. Simply amazing story and I think you'd love it.

This was half meant to be a sequel to Chrono Trigger, but it didn't turn out that way. There are assloads of secret stuff to do that will take you roughly... forever. Fun game, good story, I approve.

Professor Layton and The Curious Village
You got it already, and you saw why it was good. Short in story, but you're not done until you find all the secret puzzles and do those last few extras...



Oh, Hi Sonic!
I have high hopes for the RPG. Unleashed MIGHT work, but I'm not going to hold my breath. Sonic and The Black Knight... I kinda like the sword addition, but the honor points and such give me great doubts...

In my opinion, what they really need to do is go back to their roots. Doesn't have to be flat/2D or anything, but take it back to a side-scroller of sorts. Let us have some running frenzies through interesting levels and beautiful landscapes with easter eggs and secrets hidden here and there.

Yeah, I think Adventure Battle 2 was the last of the good ones.
Also, the Sonic games for the Advance and DS do better than the ones on platforms. That should say something.

Who dares to insult Sonic in my presence?!.....nah, its okay to have your own opinion. I've never thought any Sonic gams were genuinely bad....some have some weak points, yes, but they are not as bad as people often exaggerate them to be. Shadow The Hedgehog had some pretty good music, but that's not entirely a Sonic game....

Sonic Unsheathed looks to be crazy. No telling where that's gonna go til I have more information. I've already given my opinion on unleashed. I like werewolves and all, but they just don't fly in sonic games.

I can't say a whole lot for recent Sonic games, though. I like the new Sonic, but I don't at the same time. (I think it's $KIDS' choice of VA, but who the hell knows?) But then again, I haven't played any new Sonic game since Sonic Riders, and that crappy game was a rental ('Course, I was never good at racers. I seriously think the only reason I got 2nd on that Mario Kart Wii demo at Best Buy was because of the steering wheel add on...). Feh. I just think they need a new approach to the series to freshen it up.

And I want to swipe my brother's copy of Sonic Mega collection for the PS2 again... <_< >_>

O_o I FORGOT you had a brother. I don't even remember his name! But I remember him and what he looks like and his personality and voice... This is gonna drive me nuts.

Moving on to relevant material... I agree with the Shadow music, but I've never played Sonic riders. On the other hand, I am reminded of Meteos which has really funky music. It's like reverse tetris and SO much fun. However, I can't seem to get one of the endings... I need to beat one level in over a minute and a half and it's too easy. I once managed a minute fifteen seconds, but that was it.

Sonic Riders is HORRIBLE. The controls are god-awful, which is more important in a RACING game more than any other genre.

Eh, believe it or not, I found Air Ride to be kinda fun actually. It got boring after a while, but then so do most games.
