OH GOD I HAVE TO RANT. There might be D. Gray Man spoilers, but I think I keep most language fairly generic. If you're super-super-super not wanting to have any idea what might happen at all ever, maybe don't read, but like I said, I don't think I directly give much away. I'll try not to, anyway.
I started watching D Gray Man about 3 years ago, I believe. I got up to like episode 80-something and stopped for reasons I forget; I got busy or someshit, dunno. Regardless, my memory of it was that it was a little bit campy in parts, but overall, teh awsum.
So I started watching it with Michael last semester, and my memory served correctly: it was alittle bit campy in parts, but overall awsum. And, really, I'd forgotten JUST HOW AMAZING TYKI MIKK IS HOLY CRAP <3<3
Then... I got past episode 80-something, and realized that magically, the last time I'd watched D Gray man, I had somehow managed to stop at the best possible time, because the very episode after the last I had watched started plummeting downhill rapidly. By the way, for those who've seen it, I classify downhill as ****ing TENTACLE MONSTER AND PEOPLE WHO SHOULDN'T EVEN BE ALIVE AND TENTACLE SHIT AND OH GOD IT'S A DEUS EX MACHINA WHYYYYYYY. ;_;

then, there's ****ing SILLY FILLER all up in my episodes, and I'm all "what is this shit? There's only like 5 episodes left? And- and I'm getting ****ing FILLER?! WHAT THE ****?! HOW THE **** IS THIS GOING TO WRAP UP OH GODDDD"
and then a ****ing LEVEL FOUR demon pops up, and people SHOULD DIE but they DON'T because apparently this isn't that kind of anime, and then we get to the last episode and NOTHING HAS ****ING CHANGED and I'm like "... WAT."
Seriously, guys, I HATE the feeling of feeling like characters SHOULD BE DEAD. I would have been HAPPY if everyone had DIED in the end, because you know what? CHARACTERS SHOULD BE DEAD. AND THEY AREN'T. WHAT THIS SHIT WHY IS THERE SO MUCH DEUS EX MACHINA GOING ON HERE?!
Like, okay, seriously, the situation:
1) Allen's Innocence got broke. But, he gets it back. I am somewhat okay with this.
2) Then Allen gets trapped in a vacuum. Tyki rightfully should have been able to kill him. His blood should boil and shit. WHY DOES HE NOT DIE?! I was less okay with this.
3) Then, Allen gets ridiculously beat to shit by a tentacle monster. Arguably only reason her servives is because of STUPID DEUS EX MACHINA SHIT (yes, I have decided that that character is a Deus Ex, because aside from 2-dimensional flavor [granted, of a yummy kind] THAT IS ALL HE DOES IS SAVE THE MAIN CHARACTER'S ASS) I am not very okay with this.
4) Then, after fighting a shitton of merged-together level 3s (which should be a SHITTON more difficult than they appear to be goddamnit), and getting somewhat beat up, Allen takes a POINT BLANK DIRECT HIT from a LEVEL FOUR AKUMA.
THAT SHIT SHOULD KILL HIM.
I AM NOT OKAY THAT ALLEN GOT BACK UP aljLALsaldfladfkjs! **** MAIN CHARACTER POWERS. I HATE THEM. PEOPLE SHOULD DIE. I SHOULD BE WORRIED FOR THE LIVELIHOOD OF THE CHARACTERS, BUT I'M NOT, BECAUSE TIME AND TIME AGAIN, THEY ARE SHOWN TO BE INCAPABLE OF ANYTHING RESEMBLING DEATH. ****KKKK.
Looking back on it, I would have been A-okay if Tyki had ripped out Allen's heart and the series had ended there. Would've missed a couple of neat things, but I also would have missed this raaaaaaaage. I do not raaaage like this often. Seriously, least-satisfying ending ever. Except for maybe Pilot candidate, but that was only like 10 episodes, and I think they ran out of money, so whatever.
I just, seriously, I don't like it when I start getting bored/exhausted watching things. When that level 4 akuma showed up, and I was about ready to just stop watching. Because I knew one of two things was going to happen: either they were going to kill it will stupid bullshit, or it was going to be a really ridiculously long drawn out difficult battle that would leave the characters crippled. Again. By all rights, the second SHOULD have been the case. Instead, no, bullshit happened. And then the series ended. GUH.
Also, **** Lenalee. Her character would have been SO MUCH MORE AWESOME if she had DIED back when she should have.
She and Allen both, really. But no, they both probably have stupid plot shit that the anime doesn't really get into because it doesn't ****ing have TIME because it ****ing got made BEFORE THE MANGA WAS FINISHED HRNGGG I ****ING HATE IT WHEN PEOPLE DO SHIT LIKE THAT GAHHHHHHHHHHH
So yeah. Rant. I've been ranting about this almost continuously since I finished the anime yesterday. **** ;_;
